Chattanooga Times Free Press

We all want to be up to date with what's going on around our city and the rest of the world, from the latest sports scores to gold bullion prices. And if you're living in the Chattanooga region than one of the best ways to stay informed is with the Chattanooga Times and Free Press. This news outlet produces a newspaper and e-edition six days a week and is full of information on everything from entertainment topics to the latest in national politics. You can read the paper on your lunch at work or view the online edition while you're on a business trip working with a Canadian trademark firm. Here is some more about the history of the newspaper and what you will find in it.

The Chattanooga Times and Free Press is a relatively new publication and started in the late 1990s as a merger between the Chattanooga Times and the Chattanooga News-Free Press. The Times actually holds a place in journalism history, as it was one of the first newspapers in America that attempted to be completely unbiased to local or national politics. This made it, at one time, one of the most influential newspapers in all of the Southern states. Because of his involvement with this publication, one of the owners, Adolph Ochs, was later able to buy a fledgling newspaper called the New York Times.

This newspaper only moved out of the hands of the Ochs family in 1999 when it was purchased by Walter E. Hussman, Jr, who created the merger between the two papers. So, while you are reading a modern newspaper with subjects ranging from the latest advice from Dennis Gartman to local and national editorials on any topic, you should know that this publication is still full of a wealth of history. You can still see some of that in the structure of the newspaper, as there are actually two editorial sections. One represents the liberal point of view while the other is dominated by republican columnists. This way if you are interested in an issue dealing with the American military to the latest major case with bankruptcy lawyers California based you will likely get both sides of the argument.

The online version of the paper is full of any information that you could possibly be looking for about the City of Chattanooga and the surrounding communities. There is a photo section depicting all of the latest events, a section devoted to new homes on the market and an area for those who are looking for local employment. If you have any opinions about the food public relations at a Chattanooga festival or about a new city policy you also have the opportunity to discuss it with other residents on the opinions page.
